College and Career

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as East Valley School District’s Career and College Readiness Counselor. I have been a school counselor in East Valley for eleven years. During this time I have worked at the elementary school, middle school, and high school levels. Amazing work is being done through out our district. I am extremely excited to assist in supporting these programs and work with our students as they prepare for their futures.

Abraham Lincoln said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it”. We will work together to create your students' future. Being career and college ready means to discover, investigate, and determine personal interests and goals that will lead students toward fulfilling career choices. These goals maybe directed toward a 4-year college, a 2-year college, a technical school, a branch in the military, an apprenticeship, or entering into the work force. Whatever the direction your student follows, the eight components of career and college readiness counseling are:

  • Focusing on college and career aspirations.
  • Academic planning for college and career readiness.
  • Enrichment and extracurricular engagement.
  • Exploration and selection of career and college choices.
  • College and career assessments.
  • College and training affordability planning.
  • College and career admission process.
  • Transition from high school graduation to college enrollment or career connection.

I am looking forward to working with you this year. My email is and my phone number is (509) 241-5240. I am located at East Valley High School in the Career and College Center. Please feel free to contact should you have any questions.

Best Wishes,

Heidi Youseph, M.Ed.
